Interesting FactsThe German cockroach usually avoids cold weather, but has been found as far south as Argentina.
The German cockroach is one of the more intrusive and aggravating species of pests that can invade your business. It lives almost exclusively in human buildings, and after many years of being bombarded by pesticides it has become very resilient against most forms of pest control.
Another reason this pest is so successful is the large number of nymphs (baby cockroaches) that are released from each egg case. German cockroaches also have a very short period from the time they are born until they reach sexual maturity, so populations can explode very quickly. They are also a small species of cockroach, so often, simply locating them can become difficult.
The most effective means of killing the German cockroach is to target the cracks and crevices that they like to hide. A control rate of 95% generally needs to be achieved in order to successfully eliminate the species, as any percent below that will allow the cockroach’s quick reproductive cycle to catch back up.
